“Obstacles” explores the emotion of worry and how this emotion can manifest in our lives. I was inspired to create this work because many people struggle with worry and may even find it as an obstacle to overcome in their lives.

“Reflect and Repeat” is inspired by research on masking autism in women. To create this work I researched techniques that many women used to “mask” their autism. I then created phrases with my dancer centered around different aspects that we wanted to highlight. While looking into this I learned about the connection between masking and mental illness and the following “Autistic burnout” that can be experienced. I wanted to portray these feelings in my piece as well. Mental health is very important to me and I wanted to draw attention to an issue that many women may experience that can go unnoticed.

“Inhibited” is inspired by our perception of others and how this influences us. It explores the shared human struggle of seeing all aspects of our own lives, while only seeing a few filtered aspects of others lives.
